A dad has shown off the the incredible Harry Potter-themed secret hideaway he created for his daughter in the cupboard under their staircase.
His creation is far from the dusty room full of spiders Harry called his bedroom in the Dursley household, with the dad finishing the project in time to unveil it to his eight-year-old daughter at Christmas.
The outside of the cupboard door is decorated with the portrait of the Fat Lady, who guards the entrance to Gryffindor Tower, with visitors having to know the correct password to gain access.
The door then swings open to reveal a Ravenclaw flag, the house in which his daughter was sorted into, and floating LED candles hanging from the ceiling.
Shelves on the wall hold the collection of J. K. Rowling’s books, a letter from Hogwarts and other memorabilia, while on the walls there’s the Marauder’s Map and cut-outs of articles from the Daily Prophet.
There’s a mattress and plenty of pillows on the floor for his daughter to kick back with a book, with the dad describing it as a “cosy and cool space” just for her.
He posted a video of the finished thing on Reddit, where it racked up hundreds of comments as people asked him to do the same for them, even though they are in their 30s.
One asked: “Could a full grown adult fit in there? And when are you looking to sell your house? Asking for a friend…”
A second wrote: “I would never leave if my parents did this for me as a child.”
A third commented: “Never thought I would be jealous of an 8 year old, but here we are…”
And another joked: “Oooohh so when the Dursleys do it they are ‘terrible people’ but when this guy does it he’s a cool parent. You’re all a bunch of hippogriffs.”
